Well here I am beginning my very first ITOK blog article. In a business capacity I have suggested the importance of having a blog to boost SEO for several years. It has taken until now for ITOK to have its very own blog.
So where do I start?
The interesting fact about this process is writing a blog provides rich content which search engines can index. The other thing is it has to be informative and engage an audience.
So what do you need to get started?
Well you will first need a blogging platform, in this case we are using WordPress which sounds crazy as we are .Net developers. The thing about WordPress is that it is very straight forward to set up and simple to use. You also have to consider that even Microsoft have now decided to move to WordPress as their blogging platform which I think speaks volumes.
There are other blogging platforms you can use and various different ways you can integrate them into your website. Below is a list of the most popular platforms:
- WordPress
- Blogger
- TypePad
- Tumbir
- Posterous
You can also choose to host your blog yourself or with a 3rd party. There are pro’s and con’s to both situations but if you are new to this then it might be best to learn without worrying about the hosting. You can always migrate at a later time.
Once you have picked your framework you are then good to start experimenting with your blog.
